What have you accomplished?
This year alone we made a difference in the lives of more than 30,000 people. Our accomplishments this past year included: • Creating a special Economic Crisis Response program that offers workshops and counseling to provide concrete, solutions-based information for those impacted by the current economic downturn. • Distributing more than 17,716 bags of food to 5,517 unduplicated clients through our Hand Up Youth Food Pantry. • Resettling more than 300 refugees from Burma, Iran, Former Soviet Union, and Iraq, and more—people who’s own homes and countries have become a place of fear and danger. • Project SARAH, our domestic abuse program, assisted 158 survivors of domestic abuse with individual and group counseling, advocacy, and case management services. • Our Coachella Valley SOS program helped more than 311 homeless individuals in the Coachella Valley find affordable housing—84% of people who entered the program. The national average is 55%. • Since September of 2008, our On the Go program has provided more than 18,000 rides to more than 800 older adults to shopping destinations, grocery stores, medical appointments, and more. • In the first year of the Prins Asylum Program, offering pro-bono legal assistance for those seeking asylum in the United States, we had 4 cases of asylum granted. 12 cases are currently pending. • 100% of the teen mothers enrolled in our Mentoring Mothers program graduated from high school this year, and 78% went on to continue their education. • Our Foodmobile program delivered more than 25,705 hot kosher meals to isolated older adults and homebound adults. And that’s just the beginning. Our programs and services are continuously growing, meeting the ever-changing needs of the San Diego community.
